Prolific hip hop artist Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi, aka Kwesta, is upping his game this year. The 22-year old Jo’burg rapper has just been named ‘The World’s Grittiest Rapper’ in America’s SOHH True Grit Awards, which recognize up-and-coming hip-hop talent across the world.
The good news comes barely two weeks after Kwesta’s two nominations at the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), for Best Newcomer and Best Rap Album.
The True Grit Awards are run yearly by US music publication SOHH.com, and are recognized across the world. Riding on the strength of his debut full-length album Special Request, Kwesta is the only artist from outside America to claim the title.
