Africa Day Concert to screen on SABC2

Newtown’s most vibrant party returns to Johannesburg. The Africa Day concert is confirmed take place at Newtown Park on 28 May and will be screened on the same day from 9pm on SABC2.

Billed as a continental celebration of African talent, the Africa Day concert will feature Soweto’s award-winning acapella group The Soil, the soulful Uju, pioneer of the electrifying Durban Sound, Professor, and vibrant newcomer Toya, alongside other renowned African artists.

Now celebrating its 48th anniversary, Africa Day marks the establishment of the Organisation of African Unity (now known as the African Union) on 25 May 1963. Today, Africa Day serves as a day to celebrate African heritage and showcase the continent’s history and culture through the arts.

The Africa Day concert, which will kick off at 4pm, promises to be a vibrant celebration of Africa’s musical diversity and spirit of unity.
