After an exciting, whirlwind experience hosting Mzansi’s highest rated lifestyle and entertainment Saturday show - RGB - to an average of 5.6 million viewers, Mzansi’s media darling Pearl Thusi has decided to say farewell to the much-loved show.
“I absolutely loved my time on RGB.  I have had an incredible journey and everyone at the show has been amazingly supportive with my decision to move on.  I am not saying goodbye, just see you soon.  I have so many great things going on at the moment that I had to make a tough decision on what to focus on.  I feel that I’m leaving a stronger and better show,” remarked Thusi.

“We are definitely sad to see Pearl leave RGB. She is a great talent with many exciting opportunities that lie ahead for her. We and our viewers are going to miss her, but we are continuing to work with her on other projects, so the future is most certainly looking bright,” commented Dichaba Phalatse, SABC1 Portfolio Marketing Manager: Entertainment.

From these entries the 3 top lyrics will be chosen. The three finalists will have their songs put to music and performed by Mahalia Buchanan, LoyisoBala and Solly Mahlangu. These three songs will be released as music videos on ONE Gospel and as singles across various Christian radio stations as part of our 6thBirthday celebrations on the 1st of November.

Loyiso Bala

The winner of the competition will receive a further R10, 000.00 cash prize, and the two runners up will receive a R5000.00 cash prize. Loyiso Bala who will be performing one of the songs commented: "Gospel music is not a genre but rather the message within a genre. Lyrical content is the most important aspect of creating a gospel song. I am really honoured to be involved in this project because it is not about us finding the best gospel singer, but the real star behind a successful song; the lyricist".

Mahalia Buchanan
Through 1 September – 30 September 2013, anybody aged 18 years and older, who would like to put their song writing skills into action, must submit their lyrics via the email to info@onegospel.co.za. The aim of the channel is to contribute to the development of gospel music and promote it amongst various nations throughout the world. The channel gives exposure to artists producing gospel music, and this competition givesthe people behind the music a chance to showcase their talent, and this will inspire other upcoming songwriters to share their talent with the music industry
