Are you the next Live presenter?



Do you think you have what it takes to become the next Live Show presenter? 

SABC1 & the popular Friday-night music show, Live, presents Phase 1 of the Live Talent Search process by calling on all aspiring presenters to enter the national auditions process on-line via the Channel’s website, at wwwsabc1.co.za.
 The on-line registration site was activated on Friday 03 February 2012, closing on Friday the 10th. Applicants will be required to fill in an on-line application form and a motivation paragraph of “Why they want to be a Live presenter.” Applicants must be between the ages of 19 – 24 and proficient in both English and Nguni. Terms and Conditions apply. 
 “We are excited at SABC1 to once again present this not-to-be-missed opportunity to the youth of Mzansi to showcase their skill & talent on national television. We encourage them to register in their numbers, and to make full use of this process of auditions, for a chance to become a presenter on one of channel’s key music properties,” says Vukile Madlala – Channel’s Publicity Manager. 
 
The Process 
Step 1: Fill in the Online Audition Registration Form (Name/ ID No/ Contact Details/ Province.
Step 2: Complete all the Audition tasks. (A paragraph on 'Why you want to be the next Live presenter)
Step 3: Upload a picture of yourself and/or a 2 minute video.
Step 4: Selection of 200 finalists from the national registration process.
Step 5: Shortlisted candidates will be notified via sms of the regional audition details
Step 6: Shortlisted candidates will be invited to do regional screen tests (4 people per province – Top 32)
Step 7: Panel selection to produce the Top 4
Step 8: The Top 4 will be invited to participate in the final round in the Live studio in Johannesburg.
Step 9: The viewers will have a final say in voting in their favourite guest presenter to join the LIVE team. 

The public will be kept informed of developments and additional details regarding other phases to the auditions process will be made available at the appropriate time(s).

Thrilling celebrity show on Vuzu





A shocking, scandalous and downright sexy new celebrity show is heading for Vuzu this February. 10 Over 10 debuts on Wednesday 15 February at 19:30, and turns a scalding hot spotlight on local celebrity culture.                 
 The 13-part series has been developed exclusively for Vuzu - covering everyone from musicians to TV and film stars, fashion designers and models, sport personalities and comedians, and many, many others who fall under the hugely popular celebrity catchall.
 Each episode of 10 Over 10 will feature a countdown of the Top 10 celebrity stories. The scandals, the sexy sirens, the dirtiest love rats, the raunchiest sports stars, the bad boys and girls are all game – making it perfect viewing for celebrity-mad Vuzu viewers. Adding to the impact will the input of a range of social commentators, whose witty, blunt, straight forward and downright funny comments and voiceovers will up the ante on 10 Over 10.
 Whether it is celebrity love lives or scandals, model catfights or the worst hair weaves, misbehaving sports stars or against-all-odds winners on the field, triumphant musicians back from rehab or cosmetic surgery addicted TV stars, 10 Over 10 puts it all in the spotlight.
 Airing on Wednesday 15 February, episode one gets right to the heart of youth culture through the massive social network, Twitter. On a show titled Celebs on Twitter – The Good, The Bad, The Outrageous, 10 Over 10 takes a tongue-in-cheek look at those celebs and socialites who get people talking, day and night. Boasting a feisty voiceover and comments from a range of celebs, this opening salvo is not-to-be-missed!
Be prepared to be shocked, outraged, tantalized and, most of all, entertained with 10 Over 10, starting Wednesday 15 February at 19:30 – only on Vuzu.

Idols goes even more Pro!

Popular host ProVerb becomes Idols co-producer





The eighth season of M-Net’s hit talent competition Idols kicks off in Sandton this Saturday [4 February] and this year the show’s popular host, ProVerb, will also be calling the shots behind the scenes. Pro has joined forces with legendary Idols director Gavin Wratten, who has directed all seven seasons of Idols to date and also produced season 6 and 7.
  
ProVerb, who launched his television career on Channel O, has been a rapper since 1999 achieving success with albums such as The Book of ProVerb, Manuscript, and Write of Passage. Some of us might remember ProVerb as the technical producer of The Fresh Breakfast Show on YFM as well as The Avenue 3 to 6 with Glen Lewis and Idols judge Unathi on Metro FM, and he is currently pursuing his radio career on 94.7 Highveld Stereo. Proverb has hosted two Miss SA broadcasts and lectured in TV production and radio at Damelin College. Season eight of Idols is a co-production between M-Net and Mzansi Magic and will be broadcast on both channels from June 2012.

 
 The first auditions for Idols Season 8 will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre tomorrow (Saturday, 4 February)


  • On Saturday, 11 February auditions move to Durban, at uShaka Marine World; 
  • On 18 February it’s Cape Town’s turn at the Grand West Casino Entertainment World; 
  • On Saturday, 25 February, the final round will take place at the Walter Sisulu Hall in Kliptown, Soweto

Muvhango's 'Dr Lefu' back on screen

“Thandi’s Story” is about a young, intelligent, beautiful HIV counsellor who finds herself having to be counselled after making a bad decision one night with a colleague. When she finds out that she is HIV positive, she takes her ex –lover to court for attempted murder.
Thandi’s Story will screen as part of eKasi: Our Stories and will air on 6 February. It features Rebecca Tshabalala (Thandi) and Lebo Pelesane (who plays Andile Nare). This will be their first appearance in the eKasi stories. Below is what they have done before on television respectively:

·         Rebecca Featured in SABC’s old dramas Mama’s Love.
·         Lebo Featured in Muvhango as a character known as Dr Lefu

Johann Abrahams is the former executive producer of the programme Special Assignment. He graduated from the University of Kansas in the USA in 1994 with a degree in Journalism and Film. He has worked for the SABC for 17 years and has won many awards for his work. He is currently focusing on his freelance career in the production of feature documentaries and films.

Muntu started in the acting industry in 1987 as an actor in Zikethele Produced by Scy Productions.  Muntu also acted in several productions – in 1996 he became an AD for Soul City 2, and has become an AD more for than fifty production including Soul City 4, Zero Tolerance 1&3 and Soul Buddyz. 
In 2003, he started directing in for Soul Buddyz under the guidance of Bobby Heaney. He also directed the award-winning Bay of Plenty, Tshisa and Machansa, which premiered at the 2010 Durban Film Festival. He also directed “My Dream, Your Freedom” which was screened at Italy’s Youth Film Festival in 2007.
